Poland - It's Closer than You Think

Author: Isla Campbell

Poland is one of the hottest countries to travel to at the moment, and with good reason. With excellent weather, cities, prices and an easy-going way of life that most travellers find appealing, it's hard not to fall in love with this charismatic and friendly place.

From the capital city of Warsaw to delightful Krakov, filled with idyllic streets and squares perfect for enjoying a refreshing cool drink, city life in Poland is both fun and relaxing. What's more, there's plenty of opportunity to head into the countryside and explore gorgeous scenery, historic sites and plenty more.

Wherever you're going in Poland, the chances are that you'll want to get out there and explore as quickly as possible. As with any new area, the best way to get your bearings and learn your way around is to simply head out for a stroll through the neighbourhood. This way, you'll discover how to get to and from your accommodations by foot, learn the layout of the land and spot any good-looking bars, restaurants or attractions you'd like to revisit another time.

As a country with plenty of old and intriguing architecture, getting around foot is definitely one of the best ways to navigate Poland's cities. After all, there's so much to look at that it seems a shame to hop onto a bus or tram and watch it all go by in a haze. If you simply walk around, you have more than enough time to stop and take in a building for a little longer, perhaps even snap a picture or two, and you're not restricted by bus or tram routes that prevent you from taking a turn off down an interesting looking street and exploring the city as and how you feel like it.

With a history as powerful as Poland's, it's only natural to want to visit historic sites and locations where many of the country's most famous events took place. You'll also be able to learn about Poland's past by visiting some of the fascinating museums that can be found dotted around the country's cities - but don't forget to focus on Poland in its present form too. Today's Poland is relaxed, friendly and welcoming, and home of some of the best lager in the world! If you're a fan of sampling the local brews, Poland has much to offer, from internationally acclaimed Zywiec and Tyskie to small microbrews you can only get in the right places.

Your friends and family will be jealous when they make use of their cheap calls to Poland to discover how much fun you've been having - but when prices are so good, you can always suggest they join you!
