Travel Guide to:
Hawaii - Maui

A perfect Maui day can start with breathtaking views from Haleakala Crater, watching the sunrise at 10,000 feet. Haleakala means  “House of the Sun.” The views are dazzling, but be prepared, the early morning will be chilly.

After the sun is up and you feel warm enough, take the time to explore the park’s unusual plant species.  Few plants can live this high up in paradise, but you will find a rare plant only found here, the Haleakala Silversword.

Whale tale

If your day in paradise needs a little more action, go down to the sea to meet other visitors! The whales visit Maui every year from November through May to mate and give birth in the warm Hawaiian waters. Maui waters are considered the best in the world for Humpback watching. February is peak Humpback watching time.  If you are in Maui during the season, try one of the whale watching tours.  It will be an exciting learning experience.

As an added bonus, if you are visiting Maui in February, you can join in the Whale Festival.  It is a great celebration not to be missed.

Maui
The endless summer with the best weather and the endless waves where rides over a hundred yards are possible.  If you’re new at surfing, Maui has the gentle rollers to build up your skill. The Island’s weather seems to be the same, but the wave swells change from winter to summer.  In November, the swells start to grow, creating waves over twenty feet.  They then become a surfing challenge!

Action sports such as windsurfing and Kiteboarding at first seem to be for the young, but active seniors are also participants in this demanding, fun sport.
Everyone is welcome, so grab your beach chair, crank up the camera, and just hang out and watch the action!

Maui is the place to fulfill your diving dreams or have a snorkeling adventure.  It is all here in the unspoiled waters around the island.

Exploring the Island starting with the Road to Hana!

Hana is an isolated, undeveloped tropical paradise on the eastern end of Maui. Your drive to Hana will take you along scenic rugged shoreline with picturesque views.  Plan to make stops along the way. There are a number of waterfalls cascading down into tropical pools.  When you get home, you will have a hard time picking which falls makes the best photo.

The drive to Hana can be a demanding but exciting , so you will need a place to talk about it and reward yourself.  A good way is to have lunch in luxury at the Hana Hotel.  If you are planning to stay for the night, the ocean view sea ranch cottages are superb and include a full breakfast. If you are looking to be isolated but pampered in paradise, then the Hana Hotel is for you!

The hotel is located in the heart of this tropical paradise, and after your lunch, you will have plenty of time to explore the most isolated town in the Sate of Hawaii.

Take the time to go down to see Hana Beach Park; it is one of the nicest swimming beaches that is suitable for children as well as adults.

Be sure not to miss Hasegawa General Store. This quaint old store has eveything imaginable under one roof. It is also a good place to stock up before you dive back or on to he Seven Sacred Pools.

The Seven Sacred Pools are a series of waterfalls located in the O’heo Gulch and flow into the ocean.
The drive is about ten miles from Hana.

Enjoy!

Lahaina

Lahaina
The wonderful historic town of Lahaina, the crown jewel of Maui.

Maui beaches are first on the list, but Lahaina is the second most visited place on Maui.

This charming historic whaling village has many of the old buildings still standing.  They are now boutique shops and restaurants.  Some are located on Front Street.

Lahaina’s Front Street is located right on the western beaches of Maui.  So you will have some exciting views when you are shopping or dining!

If you need to get away from the beach scene, Maui has some world renowned golf courses.  They have ocean views with  mountains for a backdrop and each hole comes with blue skies along with an ocean breeze.  However, try not to look at the scenery; it may distract your game!

One unique way to visit the Island of Oahu from Maui is on the Hawaii Superferry.  It leaves daily from Kahului Ferry Terminal E. Kaahumanu Ave & Wharf St Kalului Maui.

The trip to Honolulu takes about three hours.  You will have plenty of time to wander Alakai’s roomy decks where you can eat, shop, relax, or visit with friends on the observation deck.

At the end of the day, go and relax on a Maui beach, without a care in the world and watch the setting sun.  You will then understand why Maui is “No Ka Oi”...... meaning ”Maui is the best.’

Aloha!
